The conclusions derived from studies conducted during 40 years by looking at the long term effects of lack of sleep. Researchers found that people with chronic insomnia for six years or more risk of death increased by 58 %.

Insomnia itself is a disorder that causes a person difficult to get quality sleep.

Study leader, Dr. Sairam Parthasarathy said better understanding of insomnia and death may provide information to key populations at risk.
If insomnia continues to occur for many years, the disorder is not good to be underestimated.
"We found that participants with chronic insomnia have an increased risk of death from heart and lung problems regardless of gender, age, and other determining factors," said Dr. Parthasarathy quoted from the official website of the University of Arizona, ahsc.arizona.edu, Thursday (27 / 11/2014).
The study has been published in the American Journal of Medicine that looked at data from a previous study that has been running since 1972. They follow the development of the study participants for decades.
