Two boy's Ability to Create Tool to Reduce Air Pollution

Jakarta, If seen, the boy is no different from other junior high kid in Indonesia. But who would have thought, the boy has been able to create a tool to reduce air pollution from motor vehicles.

Budiman Halim (14) and Fernando Augustin (14) are two of the boy. Narada School ninth grader at Kosambi, West Jakarta is creating a tool that can remove carbon dioxide from vehicle fumes that are inhaled human safety.

"The principle breaks down carbon dioxide (CO2) from the emissions of motor vehicles to carbon monoxide (CO), oxygen (O2) and hydrogen (H2) happens not too dangerous if inhaled," said Budiman  at the International Exhibition for Young Inventor (IEYI ) in SMESCO Building, Jl Gatot Subroto, Pancoran, South Jakarta, Friday (10/31/2014).

Not only that, the tool is made with a capital of no more than $ 500 thousand can also capture dust and other fine particles released by motor vehicles. Budiman explained that this is due to the electric current generated by the taser (stun tool) can capture the light component in chemicals in dust and fine particles.

"In principle, the closer the distance the greater the payoff. Hence taser which generates electricity I put in the PVC. So if taped to a motorcycle or car electrical contact directly split its CO2 and particle arrested," he said.

Not only that, by applying the same principles, Budiman make a similar tool to reduce air pollution in the streets. The difference, this tool is not attached to the paralon, but put in a cardboard box and connected to an exhaust fan.

"So I remove the tool and next to the exhaust fan can be attached. Later the term he was sucking air and filtered in the tool, the release was no longer dangerous," he continued.

Unfortunately, this tool has a great shape and weight. Budiman said that the device can be attached to a motorcycle or a car, but it should be soldered so there will be loosened and eventually released in the middle of the road.

Both Budiman and Nando claimed to have the support from their parents to participate in the exhibition. Budiman explained that he does like to experiment since childhood, while Nando is a friend who has the same hobby.

"The difference is that he (Budiman) prefer the same physics-physics. If I prefer to chemistry, he he," Nando said.
